VLR_N enters Victory Lane again, PH1SH dominates B Main (7/2/05)

VLR Race Report!
Heat 1 The Heat 1 lineup had VLR_N on the pole. He was followed by IGGR_Jigger, Rodney, Tyner, and VLR_Razz. At the start, Nitro was able to haul out with the advantage, while Rodney was able to get around Jigger and force him back to third. The bottom 2 driver's held their spots and were unable to catch the top 3. VLR_N rolled away to the heat 1 win, to win his second heat race in as many weeks, to give him the pole for the race. Rodney finished second and Jigger was third. Tyner and Razz remained in 4th and 5th at the line, as they would transfer on to the B Main.
Heat 2 Heat 2 was an exciting race, featuring some of the top names in racing. VLR_Shock started on the pole, with VLR_Matt right beside him in second. KPR_Smoke rolled to the start in third, with EVR_5rf beside him. In row 3 it was IGGR_PH1SH and IGGR_iam4rcr3 rounding out the starters. At the start, VLR_Shock pulled out to a lead, thanks to a setup given to him by rcr3. It worked perfectly, and to his own amazement, he jumped out to over a 1 second lead. Meanwhile lots of battling was going on behind him, which could have compensated for his lead, but Shock was also turning consistent lap times. By lap 7, VLR_Matt had been shuffled back to sixth place, as KPR_Smoke rallied up to second, with iam4rcr3, PH1SH, and 5rf all in front of him. 5rf had finally worked his way up to second, or so everyone thought. At the checkered flag though, after a heap of battling throughout the event, VLR_Shock surprised everyone and took his 3rd heat win of the season, in exciting fashion, winning by about 2 seconds. Believe it or not, EVR_5rf's 2nd place finish was short lived. Apparently sometime in the race, it became evident that he went a little too low on the track, and the officials gave him the black flag. This made an interesting finish, as the two less experienced drivers, VLR_Shock and KPR_Smoke, took the first two positions. IGGR_RCR was third, with teammate IGGR_PH1SH in fourth, after having to transfer to the B Main. VLR_Matt finished in 5th, with EVR_5rf having the tough break and coming in sixth.
B-Main The B Main race was another good one. Lining up on the pole was Tyner_052. On the outside front row was IGGR_PH1SH. VLR_Matt and VLR_razz rounded out the B Main field. Tyner was able to keep the lead for a little bit, but PH1SH proved to much as he quickly was able to get around him for the lead. The race was pretty uneventful after that, and IGGR_PH1SH had left town on the other racers. VLR_Matt finished one lap down, and VLR_razz finished 2 laps down when it was all said and done. But at the line, it was all PH1SH as he won by 6 seconds over Tyner_052, as he won his first VLR B Main of the season, in dominating fashion..
A-Main The A Main was an amazingly exciting feature event. Starting on the pole was heat 1 winner, VLR_N. On the outside of him was three time VLR heat 2 winner, VLR_Shock. He was starting on the inside of Rodney. On the inside of row three was IGGR_Jigger, and beside him it was IGGR_iam4rcr3. The race was exciting from the start. VLR_N and teammate VLR_Shock were side by side heading into turn one. Out of turn two though, Nitro had managed to get out ahead of him. VLR_Shock quickly dipped down below and secured second place with Rodney, Jigger, and iam4rcr3 battling profusely behind them. Jigger quickly was able to get around Rodney coming out of turn two on lap 1 though. This left Rodney on his own, but iam4rcr3 was slowly closing in on him. The racing was very close between 2-6, but by lap ten, VLR_N already had a 1 second lead. VLR_Shock was still in second but feeling heavy pressure from behind as IGGR_Jigger was letting him know he was there. Meanwhile, IGGR_iam4rcr3 had finally caught Rodney. But, as they headed out of turn 2, they made a little contact in the tricky turn and Rodney backed his car into the wall. He quickly got back straightened out, but he had already dropped back to sixth, a little ways behind the rest of the racers. Up front though, it was still Nitro leading the pack, ahead of a good battle between Jigger and Shock, as the three had stretched out the margin over the rest of the field. Finally, Rodney was able to catch pack up to the pack and he got around KPR_Smoke to drop him back to sixth. Soon, while the battle for second was raging, IGGR_Jigger gave Shock a bump but slid up the track and out of the groove. Shock continued on with ease but Jigger dropped back and that allowed IGGR_iam4rcr3 to catch him. Those two stayed nose to tail with each other and by lap 25 that had managed to catch back up with VLR_Shock. Shock moved up the track after he noticed them on his rear. IGGR_Jigger stormed by first, and then iam4rcr3 went with him. Shock quickly dipped low after they completed the pass in turn two and he got back around rcr3. After Jigger was able to pass Shock, he began pulling away from him and rcr. iam4rcr3 gave Shock a couple of bumps but Shock continued on running his line. Then rcr went for the pass and the two touched a little and rcr dropped back a little. This racing continued up until the final lap with some great battling, but rcr didn't have enough time to pass Shock in the end. But, as they crossed the line, it was none other than VLR_N taking the checkered for his second win in a row in dominating style. IGGR_Jigger crossed the line in second, just under 5 seconds behind. Two more seconds back was VLR_Shock, followed very closely by IGGR_RCR. Rodney was about a half second behind RCR, as he came across the line in fifth place, followed by KPR_Smoke in his first ever VLR race. After the race, Nitro had to thank VLR for putting on another great event, as well as the professional conduct of KPR_Smoke for moving up the track and letting him by when he was lapping him.
